Message from the School Leaders

Dear Haverstraw Elementary Community:

The 2013-14 NYS testing program is about to start. All students in grades 3-8 will be taking the following tests:
ELA - April 1-3
Math - April 30-May 2
Science Grade 4 only - Written test June 2

The New York testing program is required by the Federal No Child Left Behind Act. Therefore, all students are required to take these tests. There are potential negative consequences for schools and districts whose students fail to participate in state testing.

While we recognize that any testing program may be stressful to students and families, a positive attitude, confidence in your own skills, and proper rest and nutrition will facilitate the testing experience fostering success. We request your assistance in supporting your children in the testing process.

We look forward to seeing you at one of our upcoming events.

Sincerely,
Benito Herrero, Principal
Jennifer E. Luongo, Assistant Principal
