Message from the School Leaders

Dear Haverstraw Elementary Community:
We met with all children last week and welcomed them to Haverstraw Elementary for the 2014-2015 school year.  In addition to any letters from your childs classroom teacher, he/she has received some important notices that require your attention:
     Transportation Letter
Permission to Walk Home form - This form must be completed if you wish your child to walk home at dismissal.  Without this form, your child will need to be picked up from the attendance office.
Over the course of the next 10 months, we will be communicating with you about many different items pertaining to your childs schooling.  This letter intends to itemize a number of reminders to get the year started properly and smoothly:
Regarding communication:
We utilize the Connect Ed system to communicate various announcements via phone calls, emails, and text messages.  We ask that you set up your preferences in the system by logging on to .  Log on with your childs ID number and select your preferences regarding how you wish to receive our announcements. We recommend that you select all three options; that is, voice calls, emails, and text messages.
We will also use the email address you provide to send you pertinent announcements from our HES News account.
Regarding transportation:
Parents dropping off their child should utilize the drop-off lane on Lincoln Street, as Partition Street will be closed off for bus arrival.
Parents who plan to pick-up their child at dismissal daily must send a letter to the attendance office indicating this arrangement no later than Wednesday, September 10th.
Regarding the cafeteria program:
The school breakfast program begins at 8:15 a.m.  Otherwise the building opens at 8:27 for all other students.
We encourage families to complete a lunch form to determine whether their children qualify for free or reduced lunch.

We hope that your familys school year starts smoothly. If we can be of any help, please contact us in order to assist you with any need you may have.  Thank you for your participation in the education of your child.
